MMA CAGES
MMA Equipment
Monster Rings and Cages is known worldwide as the company that builds the very BEST MMA CAGES in the world. We build our cages and ship to promoters and to MMA gyms all around the world.
The difference in our cage and others is simple. We have a better design. It is the easiest to assemble and to take down and transport. It is the STRONGEST MMA CAGE in the world.
Over the years we have developed our MMA cages to outperform all others and to be the safest cage you can use. Ask any MMA commissioner and they will tell you that the Monster MMA Cages are the best.
We use strong AMERICAN steel in the construction of our cages. The fence is very thick and very strong. No worries about the cage wire with our MA Cages.
Per regulation, MMA Cage doors must open to the OUTSIDE only. This is for the safety of the fighters. If a fighter was down, in front of the cage door, and needed medical assistance, and you opened the door INTO the cage, the fighter would be in the way. A Monster Cage is the very best and the safest.
We also offer the equipment for MMA training gyms. We custom build bag racks, supply punching bags, safety and protective equipment, grappling dummies, and more.
When it comes to MMA, we have you covered!

HEAVY PUNCHING BAGS
Which is better?
Is vinyl, Leather, or artificial leather best?
Let's first talk about ARTIFICIAL LEATHER. Actually, this is a fancy name for something that is not leather at all. It is a type of vinyl that is smooth, like leather, but not the same.
Artificial leather is a very thin covering that is laminated on to give the bag the "look" of leather, at a lesser price. These bags are generally not as good as vinyl or real leather. The artificial covering can de-laminate and actually peel off. It is also easily punctured and tears much easier than the other bags. When you see a bag with a lot of duct tape on it, it is probably an artificial leather bag.
Real leather took the place of the old CANVAS punching bags. Canvas punching bags were and still are very strong. But they are rough on a person's bare hands and their gloves as well. Real leather is soft and supple and certainly doesn't wear out a set of gloves, or bare knuckles like the canvas bags did. The drawback is the expense of real leather. Many boxers/boxing coaches still love the real leather bags.
Vinyl bags, made from good strong vinyl are very strong and tend to outlast all other punching bags. They are certainly best to use in a boxing fitness gym where many classes and users are punching the bags every day. The vinyl bags are a little rougher than real leather bags and artificial leather bags, but do not pose a threat to the user's gloves or their bare knuckles. These work great in boxing gyms as well and the vinyl bags are able to withstand heavy punching day in and day out.
For most gyms, VINYL PUNCHING BAGS are the best answer. Real Leather punching bags are also a top choice. Artificial leather bags are the third choice, in our opinion.

Heavy Punching Bags
How do I hang a heavy punching bag
The answer to the question of "how high do I hang a heavy punching bag" is one of those answers that has a few different possible correct responses.
In a gym doing boxing fitness you do not want the heavy punching bags to "swing" very much. This is why a lot of Fitness Boxing Gyms like to use the longer Muay Thai bags. These bags will hang down to within an inch or two of the gym's floor and when hung from a bag rack, do not have much movement. This makes the user actually punch (and kick) more.
In a Boxing Gym the answer will depend on if the fighter wants to focus more on punching or footwork.
If you hang a punching bag from a normal bag rack or bag arm that is approximately 8' above the floor, the bag will hang with the normal punching bag heavy chain and the user will punch more, because the bag doesn't swing as much.
We've all seen the movies where the trainer will hold the punching bag steady while the boxer hits the bag. This is for more punching and less footwork.
Some gyms take a short cut and hang their bags from beams or rafters in their ceilings using LONG chains. If you hang your punching bag in this manner, it will certainly SWING a lot more. The user will actually do more footwork and less punching when the bags swing a lot.
In many Fitness Boxing Gyms, they will actually have the long Muay Thai bags touching the floor, to stop them from swinging.
We are not a fan of letting the bags swing too much. Better to work the bag with punches and work the footwork by moving around the bag, in our opinion.
In most cases, if the "eye bolt" is at about 96" above the floor your bag will hang at the perfect level to punch (and kick if you are using a long bag) without too much sway.

Heavy Punching Bags
Chains or Straps
When it comes to hanging heavy punching bags, there is some question as to which is best, chains or nylon straps?
In a gym with a lot of punching bags you will sometimes see the bags using the nylon straps with the idea that the nylon straps will make less noise than the chains.
That is really not necessarily true. Good bag chains are thick and heavy, and the weight of the bag holds them taut, making them pretty quiet.
Here's why Monster Rings and Cages thinks that heavy bag chains are better than nylon straps.
So, which is better, Nylon Straps or Bag Chains? Bag chains win by a landslide.
As always, feel free to contact Monster Rings and Cages with any questions.
