A common turnbuckle used for smaller boxing rings is the 1/2" x 6" hook and hook turnbuckle. These are also called “short” turnbuckles.
If you are replacing your turnbuckles, you should measure one of your existing turnbuckles to make certain that you are buying the correct size.
Turnbuckles are easy to measure. You measure the space INSIDE the two “nuts”, the “take-up” portion. A 6” turnbuckle will open up to almost 18 inches in total. It is the space between the nuts that you measure to know the size of your turnbuckle.
Turnbuckles are also marked with their diameter size, 1/2" or 5/8's", etc. They also will have a mark at each end denoting L or R which is for LEFT or RIGHT.
